As most of you know, I am building a Comp Coupe for my next car, this is planned to be out in 2011 at the earliest. As I planned to build a new chassis for the Mini, I bought the Dana rear and drop tube axle from the Bee Sting gang, as I have changed my mind it was found the Dana was too big for the job, this has been sold on and will be used on the old Steve Goode’s Wobble chassis. I, in the mean time bought a fabricated 9 inch from Alan Amis (Blown Austin Devon) this is now sitting in my office at work waiting to be taken to Steve Fields workshop where he will be knocking up the chassis and other bit for the car. The axle was a little too narrow and I have had spacers made and I have made the old Rocket Racing wheels fit. Steve has also been very busy and has made up the front drop tube, so all in all, at the moment I have the front and rear axles ready, but nothing in between. Paul Bland is making the Topolio body and we hope to pick it up before Christmas. Engine, I am still waiting to find out. For photos and more information on what has been done can now be found on my website at www.cunningplan.net or direct at www.cunningplan.net/thefuture.html

I'm thinking that Andy Fadster should donate his engine for the project. I have just added a couple more photos to my site and a couple of the nearly finish front axle below

It's really starting to look good Tony / Steve, looking forward to the new updates and to see it completed. Are you using a 351C or W???

the plan is a cleveland, but we will have to see what happens. After a discussion on the weekend and the need of the measument for the gearbox, I am now using the FMX box from The Cunning Plan, I did not realy want to split the car, but its the only way we can go at the moment, I don't plan to use it as it is anyway, so whats the diffrence. Don't forget the planned date for finish is 2011, so you got over a years worth of updates to come yet. |

Did'nt think it was so long since my last post, still no chassis but a few big bits have come my way. The main bit is the engine, as I said, its a 351 Cleveland with 2v heads. At the moment it is fitted with a 4v inlet, but a 2v one is heading this way from the states.(Along with a new Dizzy)
If you look at the gasket, you can see the diffrence between the two types of heads.
The body is ready the be picked up, but the tubs will follow soon, below is it straight out of the mould before the archs were filled in.(Hope to have photos soon)
The front hubs have been finished and Steve has built me pair ready.
I have had a adaptor made so I can fit a ultrabell on my gearbox (They only do them for the C4 and not the FMX) I baught the 20 mm alloy plate, done the design and my mate Ian done it for free (Including the steel insert to keep everything in line)

(thats a borrowed C4 bell housing to use for setting up only) All I need it a few tubes to go in between, which will be sorted very soon. |
