Hi everyone!
The Wild Bunch held our AGM on Sunday, 5th February in Swindon, and various things were discussed, and the Series Dates for 2012 were confirmed. Big thanks to everyone who attended! And a shame that the deep snow in some areas stopped others from attending.
A 2012 Membership pack with Registration forms, Rules, Dates, etc will be sent out later this week with all the details from the meeting, and full information regarding the race dates. Though Wild Bunch funds are generally somewhat depleted this year, the Registration fee for 2012 will remain at £20, very good value for money! The £5 per event fee will also remain the same. Savings will be made elsewhere. Most of the Rules remain the same, though there are some amendments (eligible vehicles, and MSA event lane choice), so please read these.
Please note that the 2012 Registration form must be completed and returned in the post with the fee, before the first event you intend to enter, to be registered to collect points, and to ensure continued membership of the Wild Bunch. Please do this as soon as you can to help with admin.
In 2012, we will again be running the Wild Bunch Series as “Best 5 of 6 rounds to count”. This year will be the 17th running of the Series! The Real Steel Series will be “Best 8 out of 9 rounds to count”. And the Roy Wilding Nostalgia Race Cars Series will be “All 3 rounds to count”. Shakespeare County Raceway/APIRA Series rounds are also listed for information below. WB = Wild Bunch Series, RS = Real Steel Series, RWNRC = Roy Wilding Nostalgia Race Cars Series. SCR = Shakespeare County Raceway (APIRA) Series.
Again, our season will start at the ‘Easter Thunderball’ MSA event at Santa Pod. Once entry forms have been posted (after the joint SPR/SCR meeting on 26th February) they will be found on the Santa Pod Racers Club page through Eurodragster.com (under Associations and clubs Link). The entry deadline for this event is usually 3 weeks before the event, so would be Friday, 16th March, but double check through the SPRC pages. Enter as early as possible to ensure your place! This will be an excellent 4-day event, and will be our first Real Steel Series round of the year, so we hope to see lots of you there to start off the season! There will then be another Real Steel round at Springspeed at Shakespeare County Raceway, and then the first Wild Bunch Series Round is at the end of May, at the Yanks weekend RWYB, so we hope to see loads of you at that one!
NOTABLE DATE INFO
Due to changes in the tracks’ scheduling this season, there are a few differences to our calendar from previous years:
• The ‘Springspeed’ event at SCR has moved BACK TO the first May Day Bank Holiday and is a 3-day event this season.
• The ‘Yanks weekend’ is a 3-day event, but we will only be running on the Saturday and Sunday.
• The ‘Summer Nationals’ at Santa Pod conflicts with the ‘Nostalgia Nationals’ at Shakespeare County again, so we will be running at the ‘Nostalgia Nationals’. We hope the dates change next year!
• There is a concessionary deal for the ‘Dragstalgia’ event at Santa Pod for Wild Bunch cars that pre-enter. It is a RWYB-status event, with no restrictions to RED’s. Entry details will be in the Reg pack.
• The York event in early August is again a 1-day only event, so unfortunately we will not be racing as a class at York this season.

June 23rd & 24th --- NOSTALGIA NATIONALS (RWYB No RED’s) --- Shakespeare County (WB 3, RS 5, RW 1)
July 7th & 8th --- MINI SHOWDOWN (RWYB) --- Shakespeare County (WB 4, RS 6)
July 14th & 15th --- DRAGSTALGIA (RWYB) --- SANTA POD (WB 5, RS 7, RW 2)
Aug 25th-27th(Sat-Mon) --- OPEN SPORT NATIONALS (MSA) --- Shakespeare County (RS 8,RW 3, SCR2)
Sept 22nd & 23rd --- NATIONAL FINALS (MSA) --- SANTA POD (WB 6, RS 9)
There will be trophies for 1st – 4th Places and Spot Prizes at all 9 of these events. (The Series dates are all listed in the next 3 individual postings.)
Real Steel contingency sponsorship
There will also be the usual Real Steel contingency prize fund available at each of the 9 rounds, where the winner receives £75 and the Runner-up receives £25. (You must have purchased at least £100 in goods from Real Steel in the 12 months prior to the win or runner-up placing, and display 2 Real Steel stickers. And then produce your receipt to the Treasurer to claim the prize). Many thanks to Real Steel for their support, which is much appreciated!
Real Steel Series Prize funds
There will be a Series prize fund of £200 in either: Real Steel vouchers, or on Real Steel Gold account, distributed for 1st–4th places in the Real Steel Series, to support and thank Real Steel.
MSA-events Series
We will be holding the ‘MSA Challenge’ again this year. There will be a trophy for the Wild Bunch team with the highest points total over the 4 MSA events the Wild Bunch are competing at this season. The points will be awarded as per the ‘National Championship’ points system, not including bonus points. We hope to secure a sponsor to post a prize fund to go along with the trophy.
Annual Fancy Dress
The theme for this year’s fancy dress party at the Mini Showdown will be “1920’s/Gangsters & Molls/Flappers, etc”
Annual Dinner Dance
We have booked the date for the 2012 Wild Bunch Annual Prize Presentation and Dinner Dance!
Saturday, 24th November, 2012, once again in the Hamilton Suite, Drayton Manor Park. Claire has enquired about a ‘group booking discount’ for hotel rooms at the Drayton Manor Hotel, and we will let you know when she receives the reply.
Full details of all the Dates, Rules and Info will be sent with the 2012 Registration packs, SO PLEASE REFER TO THE DATE LIST AND INFORMATION IN THE PACK FOR CLARIFICATION.
We’re really looking forward to racing with everyone again, and welcoming some new members and welcoming back some existing members with their newly built cars!
