Hi folks, here are the brief results from the “Festival of Power” at Santa Pod last weekend, 18th – 20th April, with a full writeup and results to follow as soon as we can!

The Wild Bunch had 8 teams competing at the 3-day event, though 10 had entered.

The weather was pretty cool, and cloudy with sunny periods both Friday and Saturday. Sunday began cloudy after overnight rain, and though 2 hours of racing took place, rain eventually stopped play, after the track crew had worked exceptionally hard to get the track ready. We did get a total of 3 rounds of qualifying during Friday and Saturday, and 6 of the 8 teams qualified, and we raced the first round, the quarter-finals, on Sunday, so were able to declare a result.

Top 4 results:

1st Place: Bob Hawkins in “Time Traveller II”
2nd Place: Keith Crampton in “Soul Town Shaker”
3rd Place: Adam Price in “Go Hard or Go Home!!!”
4th Place: Terry Clifford in “Ratcatcher Resurrection”

Here are the Spot Prizes that were awarded:-

#1 Qualifier: Phil James in “Rampage” .002 off!
Best Reaction: Adam Price in “Go Hard or Go Home!!!” .102 (Race-day)
Quickest E.T. of the event: Bob Hawkins in “Time Traveller II” 7.676
Closest to Dial-in: Bob Hawkins in “Time Traveller II” .077 off
Best Appearing Car: Bob Hawkins in “Time Traveller II”

Highlights of the weekend included: being back racing after the long off-season, several PB’s and some great performances:

Full Entered Lineup:
Adam Price in “Go Hard or Go Home!!!” – the team begin their challenge for more titles, and ran PB’s
Keith Crampton in “Soul Town Shaker” – lovely new paint job and a good start to the season
Terry Clifford in “Ratcatcher Resurrection” - had some problems with an errant cylinder, hope fixable
Phil James in “Rampage” – first time in competition with the Wild Bunch and a great start with PB’s
Mick Gleadow in “Jurassic Parts” – a few breakages in the pits, so sadly did not make any runs
Sarah Howells in “Black Pig Too” – sadly the car suffered an incident during owner Steve’s test run on Thursday – Steve is perfectly okay and can rebuild the car in a few weeks; it looked fabulous!
Bob Hawkins in “Time Traveller II” – first time out in his new blown slingshot, quickly got a handle on it deep into the 7’s!
Dave Nelson in “Dorris Dormouse” – first time out for new combination, engine sounding strong

Entered but not able to make the event, and much missed:
Chris Hartnell in “Backdraft” – unfortunately Winnebago problems meant the team could not make it
Darren Law in “The Wicked Lady” – unfortunately the new car was not quite ready

PB’s
Adam Price in “Go Hard or Go Home!!! 9.018 / 148.65
Phil James in “Rampage” 9.313 / 141.62
Bob Hawkins in “Time Traveller II” 7.676 / 170.46

Commiserations to Dave Nelson and team, who sheared a rear wheel off during launch in the first round – Dave is fine and the damage repairable. We hope all the teams with damage and tuning issues can be repaired and remedied and back really soon! Best of luck to all!

All the teams would like to thank the amazing track crew, marshals and officials and everyone at Santa Pod for all their hard work trying to get the track ready again Sunday – fair play to them all!

Well done to all the Wild Bunch teams, who put on a great show! Looking forward to the next event in 2 weeks’ time at Shakey.

Full report posted as soon as we can!
