Hi everyone! Here are the brief results from Dragstalgia at Santa Pod last weekend, 12th & 13th July, with a full writeup and results to follow as soon as we can!

The Wild Bunch had an awesome field of 33 teams including 2 guest teams from Germany participating at the event!!!!! Of these, 29 ran in competition on the Sunday. Our biggest ever field!!

The weather was fantastic Saturday, and though an early shower caused a delay, we were not troubled by further rain despite the forecast, and the day turned out lovely on Sunday! And it was the most amazing event ever!

Here are the corrected Top 4:

1st Place: Adam Price in “Go Hard or Go Home!!!” (collecting first trophy was 13-day old baby Jack!)
2nd Place: Barry Giles in “Tequila Sunrise III” (welcome back Barry!)
3rd Place: Sag Southworth in “Daddy Cool” (fantastic to see them come back from Saturday’s problems)
4th Place: Mo Blackburn in “Escape from Reality” (welcome back Mo!)

Huge thanks to Ian Blackett of ‘Blackett Photography’ who put up prize money for 1st and 2nd places, and had a special photo offer for Wild Bunch teams, and special thanks to Scot Durrant of ‘Scottie’s Moving Vehicles’ who also put up prize money for 1st place!

Here are the Spot Prizes that were awarded:-

Closest to Dial-in (on Race-day): Russ Heaven in “Tight Fit” .0033
Best Reaction (on Race-day): Ove Kroeger in “Dancing Queen” .002
Quickest E.T. of the event: Bob Hawkins in “Time Traveller II” 7.235 (another PB and Wild Bunch Class ET Record!)
Best Burnout: Dave Nelson in “Dorris Dormouse”
Best Appearing Car: Ove Kroeger in “Dancing Queen”
Best Appearing Team: Team “Tiki Munki”
Best Backup Girl: Lynne Coulsell from Team “Ballbreaker” (woot woo!)
Trophies for “Furthest Travelled”: Ove Kroeger in “Dancing Queen” and Jutta Winter in “Black Ball”
(A big welcome to our guests who came all the way from Germany!)
Spirit of Nostalgia: Alan and Margaret Smith in “Avanti”

And the PB’s were:

Tom Larman in “The Ferret” 10.299
Mick Hillier in “Texas Ranger” 10.347 / 111.82
Harry Preston in “Valkyrie” 9.552 / 134.55
Russ Heaven in “Tight Fit” 9.203 / 144.88
Mick Gleadow in “Jurassic Parts” 10.161 / 129.51
Bob Hawkins in “Time Traveller II” 7.235
Dave Nelson in “Dorris Dormouse” 8.717 (with this car)
Dan Sharp in “Little Big Horn” 10.368 / 129.56
Steph Milam 7.802 / 167.31 in “She Devil” as an altered!!
Bradley Cooper in “Back from the Past” 11.327 /117.95
Guest Ove Kroeger in “Dancing Queen” 7.601 / 178.53

Highlights of the weekend included: the fantastic and varied and interesting field of Wild Bunch cars and teams, including so many regulars, returning members, new members and guests (welcome and willkommen!!), 3 full rounds of racing on a dry Sunday, the flame burnouts, and an absolutely incredible show from all of the Wild Bunch, including loads of backup girls, new team wear, a push car and pit displays and great performances and matchups! Everyone really did themselves more than proud again!! Well done! Fabulous! And so many great comments from so many people! It was great to see so many teams out having fun!

Unfortunately, commiserations are due to Mark Coulsell and team who had possible crank case pressure issues, Terry Clifford and team who blew a rear main oil seal, the whole Wicked Lady team who broke their gearbox, Simon and Paul Williams who had low compression, Andy Jackson who blew the unique engine, Steve & Lesley who had a problem with the car, Dave Gibbons who broke a half shaft, Steph & Dave Milam who dropped some valves and special commiserations to Jutta and Tom Winter who suffered damage to the wheelie bars, and then to the front axle. Hope all can repair the damages soon and be back out racing!

Great to see a return to form for many drivers, including: Tom Larman and team and his first appearance for the year with “The Ferret”, Mark and Limited Funz running low 9’s, Mick Gleadow who ran PB’s and was sitting 2nd after the 2nd round, Sag Southworth and team who overcame initial problems to run well in the rounds, Mo Blackburn who got his zillion pieces together in time to race, and did a great driving job on the last round! Well, and so many, many more! Plus some great moments and match racing and stories – all your performances and personal achievements are all equally great! There were so many highlights, so sorry to all those who I have not mentioned for the moment – I will update on them all more when I do the full writeup!

And brilliant to see so many PB’s again! Well done to all!
