Hi folks, here are the brief results from the “Festival of Power” at Santa Pod last weekend, 3rd – 5th April, with a full writeup and results to follow as soon as we can!

The Wild Bunch had 4 teams competing at the 3-day event.
The weather stopped play all day Friday, apart from 3 pairs of cars, unfortunately. Saturday was much better though there was a rain delay and some stoppages. So this all meant that we only had 2 qualifiers overall. Sunday was better again and only half an hour lost to weather, and we completed all the eliminations. All 4 teams qualified.

Top 4 results:

1st Place: Phil James in “Rampage” (first ever event win, Congratulations!!)
2nd Place: Terry Clifford in “Ratcatcher Resurrection”
3rd Place: Bob Hawkins in “Time Traveller II”

Here are the Spot Prizes that were awarded:-

#1 Qualifier: Phil James in “Rampage” .057 off
Best Reaction in eliminations: Bob Hawkins in “Time Traveller II” .227
Quickest E.T. of the event: Dave Nelson in “Dorris Dormouse” 7.884 (first ever 7-second pass!)
Closest to Dial-in: Phil James in “Rampage” .095 off
Best Appearing Car: Dave Nelson in “Dorris Dormouse”
Wildest Ride: Terry Clifford in “Ratcatcher Resurrection”

Highlights of the weekend included: being back racing after the long off-season and completing the event, a great PB for Dave, and a great group of cars and racers!

Full Entered Lineup:
Bob Hawkins in “Time Traveller II” – first time out with a whole new engine combo, some teething troubles, but sure Bob and the team will make quick progress on it all! Best of luck!
Terry Clifford in “Ratcatcher Resurrection” - newly built engine and a couple of minor problems over the weekend, but made the Final and had a wild ride then! Best of luck with the checks
Phil James in “Rampage” – consistency and first ever round win translated into first ever event win – Congrats! Great racing!
Dave Nelson in “Dorris Dormouse” – after some time of trying, the team were finally rewarded with their first ever 7; however the next run resulted in a rod out the side of the sump – such a shame and commiserations to the team who still managed to remain upbeat overall. Very best of luck to them!

PB
Dave Nelson in “Dorris Dormouse” 7.884 at 169.17 mph

Other news!
Congratulations to Harley Coulsell and Mark, Lynne and all the team on Harley’s debut in his new Junior Dragster, Bandit 1, sporting of course an orange and black paint job. After some teething troubles, Harley again did well and was a credit to himself and the whole family! Well done team!

All the Wild Bunch teams would like to thank the amazing track crew, marshals and officials and everyone at Santa Pod for all their hard work running the event!

Well done to all the Wild Bunch teams, who put on a great show! Many thanks to all 4 of them for their support of this event! Looking forward to the next event (Springspeed) in 4 weeks’ time at Shakey. Hope to see a much bigger field for that one!

Full report posted as soon as we can!
