Hi everybody

Firstly, we would like to say that this event was dedicated to our great friend Scottie who so sadly passed away just 9 days before the event. There was a lovely tribute to him at the track on the Saturday morning with family and friends lined up either side of the track and wife Gina driving the team’s Chevy with kids Zak, Beau & Elsie-May and family friend and crew Mark, and with nieces Nicole and Kelly in the other lane in Nicole’s truck, both making a slow pass down the track after a minute’s silence then thunderous applause. Our warmest thoughts are with Scottie’s lovely family and so many friends. He will be in our hearts and in our smiles as we remember him always.

Here are the brief results from the 23rd Annual Nostalgia Nationals at Shakey last weekend, 25th & 26th June, with a full writeup and results to follow as soon as we can.

The Wild Bunch had a grand total of 25 teams participating in the event and it was a good weekend! Even though Saturday was mostly rained off and only a handful of Wild Bunch teams got any timed runs, Sunday was a little better! It remained dry most of the day until about quarter to four and we completed 2 rounds of competition. Highlights of the weekend included the big field of great quality cars, some great matchups, some flag starts, some great fundraising activities, all the great cars and people, and most of all, all the love shown for Scottie and family.

Huge commiserations and sympathies to Tom Larman who broke his foot badly on the Saturday and is still in hospital! Get Well Soon, Tom! All the best to you! Commiserations also the “B-Sting” team who broke something in the water system, to Neil Ward and Chris who have some engine damage, to the Ratchet Strap team with a small breakage, to Bob Hawkins whose block may have expired, to Dan Sharp who destroyed the diff in the “Little Big Horn” and to Tom Davis with some minor damage. Hope they can all be repaired real soon and be back out racing!

It was a good ‘Nostalgias’! Thanks again to everyone at Shakey for all their hard work and perseverance. Saturday’s weather was rubbish, though the crews did their best to get as much racing as possible in, as they did on Sunday. Well done to all the Wild Bunch teams, who put on a fantastic show again this weekend. Very impressive! A brilliant group of cars and people!!

Full report posted as soon as we can!
