Hi folks,

Just a brief post to let you all know the winners from the Wild Bunch ‘Summer Shootout’ at the ‘Redline Rumble’ on 18th & 19th August. The Wild Bunch had 22 teams participating at the weekend, a great turnout. The weather was cloudy with a headwind for much of the weekend, though there were some sunny spells. We did get 3 full rounds of racing in during Sunday, so a really good day. Well done and big thanks to all the hard working track crew and marshals and officials.

The winners and averages were:

1st Place: JJ Johnston in ‘Cheap Thrills’ .0547 average (first ever win for the team!! Very popular it was too!)
2nd Place: Phil James in ‘Rampage’ .0910 average (more great consistency!)
3rd Place: Terry Clifford in ‘Ratcatcher Resurrection’ .1311 average (another great Top 4 result!)
4th Place: Steve Heaven in ‘Tight Fit’ .1421 average (great result and consistent in his first full event!)

Spot Prize winners were:

Closest to Dial-in: Bob Morgan in ‘B-Sting’ .004 off
Best Reaction: Steve Heaven in ‘Tight Fit’ .073
Best Altered: Callum Swinchatt in ‘Przym Altered’
Best Slingshot: Chris Manning in ‘The Villain’
Best Appearing Car: Robert White in ‘Happy Daze’
Most Improved MPH: Callum Swinchatt in ‘Przym Altered’ 7mph improvement
Driver's Choice: Chris Manning in ‘The Villain’

And the PB’s were:

Lee Hartnell in ‘Metal Mistress’ 10.848
Mark Coulsell in ‘Ballbreaker’ 8.384
Callum Swinchatt in ‘Przym Altered’ 9.073 / 142.10
Chris Manning in ‘The Villain’ 172.40 mph
Steve Heaven in ‘Tight Fit’ 9.050 /144.91 mph
Paul Bambrick in ‘American Pie’ 8.798 / 146.78

The full field was:

Bob Morgan in ‘B-Sting’ (several solid 10.3’s)
Jim Tanner in ‘Shindigger’ (best run was in Round 2 with a strong 9.5)
Pete and Rob Brown in ‘Wrathchild’ (great show from the Marras as usual; a strong 10.7 Saturday!)
Lee Hartnell in ‘Metal Mistress’ (great to see Lee’s first ever 10-second pass; real shame about the damage!)
Mark Coulsell in ‘Ballbreaker’ (problems with the new fuel pump setup Saturday, then fanstastic runs Sunday!!!)
Philippa Turton in ‘Bitchcraft’ (the team had worked hard to be there and tried so hard, great they made the show all day Sunday!)
Terry Clifford in ‘Ratcatcher Resurrection’ (another good performance with the last run being the best at 9.04)
Mick Hillier in ‘Texas Ranger’ (sounding strong; the team have cured some problems with their new torque converter)
Phil James in ‘Rampage’ (more good consistent runs from Phil, nice burnouts as always)
Callum Swinchatt in ‘Przym Altered’ (great improvement with the new rear axle gears, so close to an 8!)
Chris Manning in ‘The Villain’ (fantastic first 2 runs Sunday to lead at that point, great runs all weekend)
Steve Heaven in ‘Tight Fit’ (first full event for Steve and he kept getting better, lots of very low 9’s and into the the Top 4!)
JJ Johnston in ‘Cheap Thrills’ (great 9-second passes most of the weekend, fantastic to see the win!!)
Alan Loten in ‘Paranoia’ (great to see Alan and Steve back; they had lots of gremlins and leaks to contend with and tried hard; hope to get a handle on it all next time)
Steve Field in ‘Black Pig Too’ (major rebuild successfully completed by Steve and Lesley; going well to start with but some minor damage)
Keith Crampton in ‘Soul Town Shaker’ (a mixture of 10 and 11 second Keith, quickest run on last round)
Dave Rowlands in ‘Destiny’s Angel’ (good to see Dave out again, fixed a problem Saturday and made a couple rounds Sunday)
Pete Huckle in ‘The Jagster’ (the team had some fuelling issues Saturday, but bounced back and ran well Sunday)
Robert White in ‘Happy Daze’ (nice to see this new team enjoying their racing, with new smiley faces painted on the front wheels)
Paul Bambrick in ‘American Pie’ (team installed a new bigger fuel pump to great success Saturday, deep into the 8’s so well done on that, and the big save on the run Sunday!)
James Auld in ‘Little Fauss’ (some good runs again, so shame the car didn’t play ball in one round, so close!)
Des Taylor in ‘Thundergod’ (Des only got the pushrods Saturday morning and made a mammoth effort to run; had a test run Sunday and a late fireup; sounds very strong!)

Congratulations to all those with PB’s and winning performances, and commiserations to all those with breakages and problems which hope can be fixed soon!

Highlights of the weekend include as always the amazing group of people and cars! The weather was okay and we completed the 3 rounds, plus had a different pitting area, which was really handy for the track! Well done to all of the Bunch on another fabulous show! Thanks to everyone at Santa Pod for all their hard work during the weekend. It was a really cool event!

All the best
Claire
