Hi folks

Just some info on next weekend’s fantastic 6th Annual ‘Dragstalgia’ event where you will be a very welcome part of our biggest EVER field of Wild Bunch racers with 45 entries on the list as we speak!! (Topping the 38 from last year!). It will be great to see all of our regulars, as well as meet some newer and returning members and overseas guests!!

So, as we have such a big number, pitting will be at a premium and we ask everyone to pit as close together as possible and as courteously as possible to make sure everyone can fit into our allocated pits. When you arrive please pit as near as possible to the person next to you and try not to leave gaps, so that we maximise the allocated space. Take ALL flatbed trailers and unneeded trailers to the storage space which will be advised (this is sometimes by the last part of the return road before the barn). Keep any unnecessary vehicles parked away from the pit area (you do not need more than one tow car ). Display your pit pass clearly on your tow vehicle. There will be more pit marshals on duty so please help them to help you by following their requests. We would dearly like to be able to fit all of our teams into our allocated space so that we are all in a fantastic group.

When we are well-organised and well-presented we really look brilliant as a group! So make the most of your amazing race cars and let’s put on a great show in the pits as well as on the track!! (And the fireup road too – last year it was just spectacular to walk up and down the queue of Wild Bunch, a real sight to behold!). Everyone put on such a fantastic show, so I am really looking forward to seeing that again!!!

This is the official announcement from Santa Pod on eurodragster on 11th July, regarding arrival and pitting:

“James Forster of Santa Pod Raceway has been in touch with an important update for participants in this week’s Dragstalgia. Santa Pod Raceway’s gates will be open to racers only between 9:00am and 8:00pm sharp this Thursday 14th July. Please do not travel to the track if you can’t make it before that time, as you won’t be able to get in. Gates then re-open at 8:00am on Friday. We would also like to make a plea to all racers to keep vehicles in the pits to an absolute minimum. We have an enormous entry and we lose pit space due to the Big Top marquees being set up for Bug Jam. We will make space available for trailers outside the pits.”

Further info:

This event will be dedicated to Scottie Durrant, our great friend, and we will be carrying on his celebration of life throughout. So do also feel free to bring your best Hawaiian shirts or loud and bold gear to wear in celebration

There will also be a grand raffle, time to be announced, to raise funds for Scottie’s family, and tickets will be on sale in the pits.

**********************

Once again, Dave and Helen from Zeon TV and Quarter Mile High Productions will be filming our spectacular on-track action, to add to a DVD available at the end of the season. (We still have some of the 20th Anniversary ones for sale at £10 each if you would like to purchase one).

We will have our Wild Bunch silver thermal mugs (£5 each) and a handful of XL and XXL Wild Bunch T-Shirts at £10 each.

********************

There will again be a Cacklefest and Flame burnouts on the Saturday evening, and there will be information in the signing-on office about taking part in either of these, so do check that out, and add your name to the list if interested.

Still to be confirmed: we should be scheduled for 3 runs on each of Saturday (practice) and Sunday (Series points day where the winner will be the one with lowest average difference to Dial-in). The times will be shown in the programme.

The timing officials have arranged that they will be giving me a printout of the data from each round so I should not need to see your timing tickets (unless in case of query). But I will need to have your Dial-ins as early as possible on the Sunday, as these will be given to the tower before racing starts, so they can be inputted into the system. The times will display on the scoreboards, but racing will still be ‘heads up’ as always.

I aim to be at the track late Thursday, all being well, so will start meeting up with you all then, and throughout the day on Friday. With so many to see, it may be a while before I catch up with you, and give you all the usual event info and have a chat. I look forward to seeing you all at the drags!!! Good luck everyone and have fun!!

All the best
See ya at the Drags!!!!!!

Claire
