Hi everyone

Here are the brief results from the “Summer Nationals” at Santa Pod this weekend 27th & 28th June, with a full writeup and results to follow as soon as we can!

The Wild Bunch had a total of 6 teams competing at the event. The weather was good Saturday, dry all day and we got all 3 qualifiers. Sunday began wet and though the track crew nearly had the track dry mid-morning, there was more rain. They never stopped working and the rain finally stopped and they got the track dry, prepped and open by about 1:20pm. We were late on the running order anyway but it wasn’t until 5:30pm that we got our first round! The Semis took place an hour later and the Final an hour later than that, and all eliminations were completed. A big fair play to the track crew and all the marshals and officials for all their hard work and achieving a full event! Great job as always!

Here are the results:

1st Place: Terry Clifford in “Ratcatcher Resurrection”
2nd Place: Phil James in “Rampage”
3rd Place: Alan Loten in “Paranoia”
4th Place: Sarah Howells in “Black Pig Too”

Here are the Spot Prizes that were awarded:-

#1 Qualifier: Phil James in “Rampage” .016 off
Best Reaction (in qualifying): Phil James in “Rampage” .047
Closest to Dial-in: Terry Clifford in “Ratcatcher Resurrection” .028 off
Best Appearing Car: Sarah Howells in “Black Pig Too”
Best Appearing Team: Team “Ratcatcher Resurrection”

And there were a couple of PBs at the weekend:

Terry Clifford in “Ratcatcher Resurrection” 8.925
Sarah Howells in “Black Pig Too” 8.934 /152.08 (Sarah’s and the car’s first 150mph run!)

The full line-up was:

Bob Hawkins in “Time Traveller II” (ran a couple more 6’s after another rebuild!)
Terry Clifford in “Ratcatcher Resurrection” (ran back into the 8’s again!)
Phil James in “Rampage” (very consistent again, with new spool just installed, running well already!)
Darryl Howells in “Chemical Reaction” (best of luck getting ready for Dragstalgia!)
Alan Loten in “Paranoia” (great to see the car running so well, and best 60fts!)
Sarah Howells in “Black Pig Too” (achieving the 8 and 150 on her first full competition in the car!)

Highlights of the weekend included: a great half dozen cars and teams and some good performances and some really close races, as well as a completed event! Commiserations to Darryl, who had some issues with spark plug damage which required further investigation so could not make a run this weekend, and to Bob who did lifter damage after another great pair of 6’s. Congratulations to Terry on the event win and PB, and indeed congrats to all the Top 4! Congrats to Steve and Lesley Field on the recent great performances now being realised in their car and to Sarah on great driving to the 8’s and first 150!

All the teams would like to give huge thanks to the marshals and officials and track crew for all their hard work and perseverance, and in running a great event!

Well done to all the Wild Bunch teams, who ran really well again this weekend! We’re looking forward to the next Wild Bunch Series round in 2 weeks’ time at Dragstalgia where we already have 32 entries and a few more on the way!!!

Full report posted as soon as we can!
