Hi everybody!

Here are the brief results from the ‘Green Light Nationals’ at Santa Pod last weekend, 17th & 18th August.

The Wild Bunch had a great total of 11 great teams participating in the event (the highest number in MSUK racing since 2012!). The weather was dry Saturday though windy, and we had 4 qualifying runs. Though we had some heavy rain Sunday morning, eliminations started by 1pm and all eliminations were completed on another windy day! Huge thanks to all the marshals and officials and everyone at Santa Pod for all their hard work again this weekend!

The Top 4 winners were:

1st Place:  Callum Swinchatt in ‘King’s N/W’ (Improved all day! Another great win!)
2nd Place: Philippa Turton in ‘Bitchcraft’ (fantastic racing all day and real close to Dial in Semis)
3rd Place: Elaine Hancock in the Powerflow Exhausts Altered (a big welcome to new WB member Elaine who did so well on her debut!)
4th Place: Steve Field in ‘Black Pig Too’ (second Top 4 in a row! Fantastic burnouts too!

The Spot Prizes were:

#1 Qualifier: Mark Coulsell in ‘Ballbreaker’ .006 off (exactly the same as his #1 Qualifier at Summer Nats!)

Best Reaction: Callum Swinchatt in ‘King’s N/W’.091 (pulled it out in the Final when needed most!)

Closest to Dial-in: Elaine Hancock in the Powerflow Exhausts Altered .024 off (fantastic racing!)

Quickest E.T.: Mark Coulsell in ‘Ballbreaker’ 8.426 (great ET even with the strong headwind!)

Best Appearing Car: Darryl Howells in ‘Chemical Reaction’  (lovely turned out slingshot as always!)

Many thanks to my supercrew of trophy presenters: Kassey and Ada J J (Happy Birthday to Kassey for the Saturday!)

The full line-up was:

  • Phil James in ‘Rampage’ (some strong runs overall, but affected by the headwind)

  • Mark Coulsell in ‘Ballbreaker’ (great #1 Qualifier spot, his third of the year!)

  • Philippa Turton in ‘Bitchcraft’ (great to see the team fixed the damage, and Philippa running so well!)

  • Pete Brown in ‘Rebel’ (really strong burnouts and runs, great racing!)

  • Bobby Wright in his altered (some good solid runs throughout Saturday, but a misfire niggle)

  • Callum Swinchatt in ‘King’s N/W’ altered (brill burnouts, nice wheelie launches, another Final!)

  • Darryl Howells in ‘Chemical Reaction’ (glad Darryl had his new axle and made the show! Great appearance)

  • Steve Field in ‘Black Pig Too’ (great runs, earning a fantastic 1st round win, closest of the round too!)

  • Andrew Clifford in ‘Snake Eyes’ (some really strong runs, and conquered a gearbox problem)

  • Dan Boone in ‘American Pie’ (strong runs until the last with a couple of pistons down, best of luck!)

  • Elaine Hancock on the Powerflow Exhausts Altered (great progress to get to the Semis and a great try there! Great racing!)

Also Congratulations to Bobby Wright and Andy Clifford who both gained their Motorsport UK licences on Saturday! Very well done guys!!

There were no PB’s this weekend, probably largely due to the strong headwind throughout! Though there were a few 60ft PB’s!

Highlights of the weekend were the weather breaking for Saturday and then improving Sunday, so every qualifier and every elimination round was run!  Also once again, an excellent group of cars and teams! There were a really good set of elimination races and a great show by the Wild Bunch!!

Thanks again to everyone at Santa Pod for all their hard work as always! Well done to all the Wild Bunch teams! You all did yourselves proud yet again!

All the best

Claire
