Hi everybody!

Here are the brief results from the ‘Summer Nationals’ at Santa Pod last weekend, 22nd & 23rd June.

The Wild Bunch had a total of 7 great teams participating in the event. The weather was dry and fairly warm throughout, with some cloud.  We had 3 qualifying runs on Saturday, with the last one just before the jet car closed the day. All eliminations were completed on Sunday. Huge thanks to all the marshals and officials and everyone at Santa Pod for all their hard work again this weekend!

The Top 4 winners were:

1st Place:  Phil James in ‘Rampage’
2nd Place: Callum Swinchatt in ‘King’s N/W’
3rd Place: Philippa Turton in ‘Bitchcraft’
4th Place: Mark Coulsell in ‘Ballbreaker’

The Spot Prizes were:

Big thanks to Mark Coulsell of MJC Property Solutions for sponsoring the trophies, much appreciated!! Many thanks to my supercrew of trophy presenters: Kassey, Ada and Amelia smilesmilesmile

The full line-up was:

  • Phil James in ‘Rampage’ (another very consistent performance with 2 qualifying runs at .019 off, and great win! Again another really great team effort!)

  • Mark Coulsell in ‘Ballbreaker’ (great #1 Qualifier spot, 3 runs in the 8.2s’s and 150mph+ throughout; a strong performance)

  • Philippa Turton in ‘Bitchcraft’ (Philippa’s most consistent weekend ever, including an .016 off in Round 1! Great job from the whole team with Mark and Skippy crewing!)

  • Rob Brown in ‘Rebel’ (fresh from their new 7.50 chassis tag pass! (Thanks Roy!) PB’s and a great first MSUK event for Rob, good reactions too!)

  • Terry Clifford in ‘Ratcatcher Resurrection’ (some really strong runs and a high 8; great teamwork as always! Look out for some exciting developments with the team very soon!)

  • Callum Swinchatt in ‘King’s N/W’ altered (fantastic burnouts, great wheelying launches and very consistent 8.9’s, a great performance all round and another final round appearance with a PB!)

  • Steven East in ‘Ellie’s in Trouble Now’ slingshot (welcome back to Steven and Joshua on their first event of the year, nice to see them making progress throughout the weekend which they thoroughly enjoyed!)

    PB’s were:

  • Rob Brown in ‘Rebel’ 8.414 / 161.91

  • Callum Swinchatt in ‘King’s N/W’  8.890

Also Congratulations to Steve Field in ‘Black Pig Too’, running in another class at the event, who recorded a great PB of 8.364 @ 163.07 mph! Well done Steve and Lesley! Great to see the car running so well after so much hard work!

Highlights of the weekend were the good weather (after a rainy week), getting all the rounds in, and a small but excellent group of cars and teams! A brilliant set of qualifying runs, and even better performances by everyone in the eliminations! A fantastic show by the whole Bunch!!

Also of note, Miss Ada Casissi had her first ever fully suited fireup of the team’s ‘Bandit 1’ Junior Dragster! Way to go Ada!! smile Well done to Harley on another good performance in the car this weekend! smile

Thanks again to everyone at Santa Pod for all their hard work as always! Well done to all the Wild Bunch teams for putting on an amazing show of good close racing! You all did yourselves proud again!

All the best

Claire
