Hi everybody!

Here are the results from the ‘Green Light Nationals’ at Santa Pod on 22nd & 23rd August, the 5th round of the Spirit of Nostalgia Challenge Series, the 2nd round of the SPRC Championship for Wild Bunch, and the 2nd round of the Springbridge MSUK Challenge, sponsored by Bob Hawkins of Springbridge Group. Huge thanks to Bob for his ongoing sponsorship, very much appreciated!

The Wild Bunch had a good field of 6 cars participating in the event. We had 7 entries but unfortunately Team Rebel were unable to attend due to a breakage. We had 2 great qualifying runs on Saturday, and two on Sunday out of the 5 scheduled as there had been a lot of downtime on the Saturday.

The winners were:

1st Place: Marie Mills in her purple Altered (Happy 1-year Wild Bunch Anniversary Marie and team!)

2nd Place: Phil James in ‘Rampage’ (another great Final round appearance!)

3rd Place: Allan Schofield in ‘Scud’ (another great result!)

4th Place: Bobby Wright in ‘Alturd’ (Welcome back Bobby and John!)

The Spot Prizes were:

#1 Qualifier: Marie Mills in her purple Altered .0017  off

Best Appearing Car: Bobby Wright in ‘Alturd’

Commentator’s Choice: Philippa Turton in ‘Bitchcraft’ (for her first 9-second pass in the car)

The full line-up was:

·           ‘Crazy’ Chris Hartnell was back in ‘Backdraft’ after having 3 runs at the recent Mopar event for our ‘Summer Showdown’. Chris made all 4 qualifiers and qualified in 6th place overall. He and the boys were still tuning the car with its new engine so were not back in the 8’s again yet. He ran a weekend best of 9.052 @ 142.95mph. Chris matched up with Phil in the first round of eliminations, but Phil was closer to his Dial-in.

·           Philippa Turton was running her ‘Bitchcraft’ slingshot coupe after some repairs to the heads and valves after the previous event. She made a very promising start with a 10.191 off the trailer. She qualified in 4th place overall. Philippa ran several PB’s over the weekend, culminating in her fantastic first ever 9-second run in the first round of elimations, breaking out with a PB 9.933 @ 131.29mph in her matchup with Marie. A win-win pairing!!

·           Bobby Wright was back for his first outing of this season in his ‘Alturd’ altered, after some upgrades to the car. Straight away he was running better than expected, with a 9.920 for starters.  His weekend’s best numbers were 9.752 @ 136.98mph. He qualified in 5th place overall. Bobby met Allan in the first round and Allan got the holeshot win. Bobby earned 4th place by being closest runner-up in Round 1.

·           Phil James was running ‘Rampage’ for his 3rd event of the season. Phil started the weekend with a tiny .001 breakout in his first qualifier. His best numbers of the weekend were 9.418 @ 142.15mph. He qualified in 3rd place. He advanced to the Semi where he beat a redlighting Allan but then redlit in the Final to finish Runner-up for the event.

·           Marie Mills in her purple Altered was celebrating a whole year of running with the Wild Bunch, and what a great impression she has made in the Bunch! She put in a stellar 10.4517 on a 10.45 Dial-in in qualifier round 2 to become and remain #1 Qualifier. Her best ET of the weekend was 10.410 with a 125.25mph best ticket. Marie won all 3 rounds of racing to win the event with a great 10.415 on a 10.40 Dial-in  with a good .045 Reaction time. Many Congratulations on another win Marie!!

·           Allan Schofield was doing double duty and running both his ‘Scud’ altered with us in the Wild Bunch and his ‘Scud’ dragster in another class, so a very busy weekend! Allan had a consistent weekend with a great 9.0143 on a 9.00 Dial in the second round of qualifying to qualify 2nd overall. His best ET of the weekend was that 9.0143 and best speed 145.29mph which was the fastest of the Bunch. He made it to the Semi-final where he has a tiny redlight of just .015 and finished in 3rd place overall.

The PB’s were:

Philippa Turton with a 9.933 @ 133.34 mph

Massive thanks again to everyone at Santa Pod for all their hard work as always! Well done and thank you to all the Wild Bunch teams who supported this event!

We hope to see a bigger field for the MSUK final event on 25th - 27th September!! In the meantime we are looking forward to the NSRA Hot Rod Drags on 18th - 20th  September which will see the Final of the Roy Wilding Nostalgia Race Cars Series and the penultimate round of both the Wild Bunch Series and Spirit of Nostalgia Series!! Really looking forward to both of these fantastic races!!
